Norfolk Southern continues to monitor the storm as it nears the end of its path across Florida and reenters the Atlantic as a tropical storm.
The storm’s current trajectory has it potentially restrengthening to a Category 1 hurricane prior to making landfall again along the Georgia and South Carolina shorelines. As of now, rail operations between Norfolk Southern inland terminals and the southeast ports of Savannah and Charleston are planned to operate as normal. International shippers and drivers should ensure they are receiving storm related updates from the respective port authorities for up to date information on gate and terminal operations at port facilities.
As a reminder, the Jacksonville CGI lot will remain closed until 6:00am tomorrow, September 30th. All other Norfolk Southern facilities will continue to operate as scheduled. Norfolk Southern will continue to closely monitor Ian and provide updates as the storm progresses.
We encourage drivers to take advantage of our ExpressNSTM Mobile Application which streamlines gate and terminal processes for our drayage community. With ExpressNSTM, drivers can verify billing, submit pre-gate information, obtain parking and pickup locations, receive electronic interchange receipts, and submit bad order information. More information on ExpressNSTM can be found by scanning the QR code below or by visiting www.nscorp.com/intermodal/ExpressNS.
